For the past few months I've been having excruitating stomach pains, mostly at night. It is in my lower abdomen and above my naval, and sometimes goes right thru to my back. I also get really bad diarrhea that is basically liquid. I saw a gastroenterologist and he said it was acid reflux, I've been taking Prevacid for 6 months now for it, and he uped my dosage but it doesnt seem to help at all. Any ideads? I really need the help, thanks all.

Do you have episodes of vomiting?
Have you ever defecated a tarry black stools ?
Are you loosing weight or becoming PALE in the face ?
Do you get tired easily lately ?
Does the pain get BETTER or WORSE when you eat ?
Do you smoke /drink alcohol a lot ?
Is your life stressful ?

To me I am 70% sure you have a Gastric ULCER , that's a serious problem , if you answer yes for most of the above questions then it's definitely an ulcer .

EDIT
the sticky pale stools indicate indigestion , this supports the diagnosis of IrritableBowel .Try to eat lots of fruits and vegetables, stay away from :
Milk,Pepsi,Coffe,Alcohol
Spicy,Fatty Food .
Beans,Onions,Eggs
Smoking
If nothing else helps , try a course of Amitryptiline .

however, before all that , I recommend the following :
1. Complete blood count (C.B.C.)
2. Hydrogen breath test
3. Stool assay for H.Pylori .
4.Upper Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and possibly a Lower one ,too . this is the single best test you can get ,though it might be expensive .

there is a probability you have both a peptic ulcer AND irritable bowel since they are both PRECIPITATED by STRESS and Spicy Foods .
The most important disease you must rule out in your case is Peptic Ulcer Disease .
Hope it works out for you .

sounds like u have irratibal bowel syndrome, look it up on the net, other possibilities are a hyatus hernia, or your allergic to a product in the food. all these can have the symptoms your describing to us.
You must go to the doctor they will arrange some tests for u, the first one being the case of you drinking a liquid and then havin a kind of scan the liquid will show the lining of the stomach etc and they can diagnose u.
untill then try to eat little and often, and keep a diary of what food you ate and when the pain was worse this helps the doctor also.
hope this helps and i hope you feel better soon mate x paris

Doesn't sound like acid reflux...I would think that would be heartburn related. What other symptoms do you have? Stomach pain and diarrhea can be Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Crohns Disease or Colitis. You may need a colonoscopy if symptoms continue. They're not fun, but at least they give you good drugs for it.

Hey i know a nutritionist friend who may help you but he's not around now but at the moment,i hope i can give you little advice.I really dunno what your rpobelm is but if i were you,i'd quit fatty food, fried food and sugary food since they need a big amount of stomache acid to be digested and CAUSE ACID REFLUX .I also have acid reflux from time to time, almost everyday but i never feel painful instaed of disturbing movements in it.Yet,every time i have acid reflux,i drink a bit of balsamic vinegar.DON'T FEEL SURPRISE as many may think that vinegar will qorsen the problem but i can tell you why it helps.First of all,you have to understand what's causing acid reflux.According to nutritionists, acid reflux is caused by INITIAL LACK OF STOMACHE ACID which means you have eaten something oily or sugary that your stomache finds difficult to digest, then what happens?it then tends to produce a great amount of acid to digest the food which IS OFTEN TOO MUCH.in the end,the acid is so strong that it comes out when you burp and that is acid reflux.Balsamic vinegar helps digestion because it contains ENZYMES so that your stomache needn't work too hard by producing acid itself. It is really useful. Also,if you don't want acid reflux, avoid eating too much.eat slowly, little by little.eating 70%full is the best!eating too much explains why most overweight people suffer from acid reflux.when you feel pain in your stomache,STOP EATING AND DRINKING ANYTHING.You must not go to bed late either because according to chinese traditional doctors, your daily habit affects your digestion system greatly.you should go to bed between 10pm and 1 am.IF THE PROBLEM CONTINUES,YOU SHOULD SEE A DOCTOR.

Have you had a fever? If so there are multiple things that could be going on. A. appedicitus B. Gall stones C. kidney stones or Pancreantitus If your symptoms come and go, try paying attention to what you eat. If it get worse after you eat try to pinpoint what foods aggrevate it. You could have colitus which is a intestinal problem and can cause pain on the right side but most likely it is something involving your kidneys because kidney problems can cause pain that radiates to your back. And with all of these things it will cause diarrhea. I would go to the doctors or hospital when it is at its worst because it usually takes a flare up to correctly diagnose whats going on.

I used to take Prevacid and went off of it because it really didn't help very much. An old fashioned-doctor told me to try drinking Ginger ale and a tablespoon of Pepto Bismol and it helps most of the time. I carry that in my car at all times, just in case I need it.

Thyroid disease is one of the most common health problems we face today. From a practical standpoint, there are many ways to approach this issue. Learn here https://tr.im/t77nD

Hypothyroidism, or underactive thyroid, is a very common problem, and there are many reasons for this, including drinking chlorinated and fluoridated water, and eating brominated flour.

Chlorine, fluoride, and bromine are all in the same family as iodine, and can displace iodine in your thyroid gland.

Secondly, many people simply aren't getting enough iodine in their diet to begin with. The amount you get from iodized salt is just barely enough to prevent you from getting a goiter.
