OK, we know when you signed that contract you did it out of love..

But what do you think about our leadership in this war? Do you think our occupation will eventually lead to any kind of peace between the Middle East and the West? Do you think anything needs to be changed about our policies (ie. should tortue be allowed, should we be putting more effort into afghanistan)?

Has your time in the middle east given you any new insight into the situation that youd like to share with the rest of us?

I'm a veteran of the Air Force. I think that Bush's has done the best job possible in Iraq. If the Democrats and the liberal media had not been so negative about everything that Bush has done, just because it was Bush that did it, we would be doing much better in Iraq.

Even if Iraq develops a viable democratic government that does not allow terrorists to be based and trained there, that will not bring about peace in the Middle East. It would help to deter war in the Middle East and possibly lead to other countries there to change from dictatorships to democracies.

You need to realize that 9-11 was a declaration of war by the Muslim terrorists. Their goal is to destroy this country and we will not change their minds by entering into a "dialog" with them. They must be defeated, just as Hitler and Tojo had to be defeated in WW2.

I'm a vet from the Navy. He's done a poor job with everything. However, now that we are there, we need to get the job finished. We can't leave it in shambles and let the Iranians fill the void. At worst, Iraq can survive on its own. At Best, Iraq can survive, be peaceful, and be democratic...

The Middle East in caught in the past, like several centuries in the past. They need a system of education for literacy, and Islam needs a reformation like christianity. Literacy and reformation would help with some of the crazy views parts of Islam has about life, women, etc...

I am a Veteran. I served 4 years in the U.S. Army from 1991-1995. I joined during Desert Storm. I think President Bush is doing his best in a bad situation. If the generals all think this plan will work than I am all for it. My brother is over there right now and he believes in his mission.

I served when all this began and then I got out for various reasons unrelated to the war. I think this has become way bigger and more of a mess than we ever expected. Many of the people I knew when I was in got out or are getting out. You spend one year deployed and one year home. On rotation. What kind of family/love/normal life can you live being stuck over there every other year until this is over? I think Bush is going to have a rude awakening as the military is already short-handed as it is. I think many who initially supported these efforts have lost faith in them, myself included. We have more pressing things in the states to spend resources on. We are messing with a culture that has no regard for government. The lack of education there and support of the government increases the state of terror and violence. They are not afraid to die...they know nothing different. Our soliders do. The only reason we arent pulling out is politics. Simply put. Politics is not a good enough reason in my book to lose lives over.

Career soldier: to hell with him and his overpaid, greedy friends; history will judge him as a great failure.

I view him as a coward, who failed to serve and a man with great political skills sucked America into a stupid war: but hey, he may still "win"? What?:

"The tears of widows and orphans upon some lonesome grave....."

I suspect he could not articulate anything about the "Middle East" nor much else.

As to his Sec of State: I went to the same college: my gpa in my major was what 3.89 hers less, much less.

I have no respect; she never mentions that virtually no women or men of color went to Denver University. She is not a great person. DU was "all white" & "always White" University.

I never sat in a class in all my years with any person, peer, student with dark skin but one: he left. She should havE AS WELL.

He made the mistake of NOT listening to the generals in the Pentagon.

They told him 200,000 plus troops to do the job and Rumsfield told him they could do it with less.

Now he has US Marines in jail, he is tying our soldiers hands by making them go through seven questions before they fire, he turned out to be a dummy.

I hope he can sleep at night with the decisions he's made because if I was him, I wouldn't be able to.
