I agree about age 5 - 7. When they're old enough to know not to play with the knobs, stick their fingers down the drain, how to clean every crevace, properly wash their hair, etc. I would have them do it with the door open though so you can keep an oipen ear.

My mom was always there to bathe me up until 6 years. If my dad had to bathe me...around 4 or 5ish he'd leave only an inch of water for me and leave me a lone. Probably not the wisest thing...but obvious a 20 years later, I am still alive. I would think 7 or 8 be old enough...

I'd start by just sitting in bathroom when your child bathes and see how he or she does following the "rules" and washing. Then gradually work your way out of the bathroom but still check in every few minutes, have them leave the door open etc.. We started that around age 5 with our kids.

as 4-6 years old is okay but still they need to be watch out by you from far. its their stages of the beginning to be independent where by they will use this word if you make them disappointed "mom, let me do this, i am big enough" even though they are not.and still at these age don't know yet the meaning of "safety". starts from 8 is better. because under of this age is easier for kids to feel sleepy when they get with water.

I think 4-6 years would be an acceptable age. I know that's when I started to bathe alone.

8 years old they should be able to understand not to play with the shower or the hot and cold knobs but of course still check on them from time to time.I have 3 kids 21,14 and 11

I let my son bathe alone sort of. He's 2 and 1/2 and he likes to stay in the tub for a long time. So I leave him alone but I sit really close to the bathroom and listen to everything just in case.

I'd say seven...you need to be sure they are bathing, but stay within earshot and a 3 second run...

They could decide to stand and slip and hit their head...they could turn the hot water on....anything could happen and it doesn't take long to drown.

Kids shouldn't be left alone until they are tweens and even then I kept an ear out.
