th e cheepest way besides the leak is to check your fluid level (while engine is running) and add as needed. a good additive will help and get u further down the road(start saving) youve bought about 4months+

Check your transmission fluid, sounds like since its leaking fluid the level may be low enough that it is not properly operating the torque converter causing your vehicle speed to increase and the vehicle not to move. Before assuming your transmission is gone have the transmission serviced (i.e. fluid changed, filter changed) and then go from there. Shouldn't be having transmission problems in this new of a vehicle. My jeep (96 grand cherokee) has 190,000 miles on it and the transmission operates just as it did new. I change tranny fluid every 55,000 miles, oil every 3,000 miles, and a full service and lube every 6,000 miles. Haven't had any problems other than a starter at 189,000 miles, and a new radiator at 189,700 miles. Take care of your jeep and it will give you many great years of service

Sounds like your transmission pump is going out. (bad news)
However You might try draining the transmission fluid and replacing the filter and see if that helps any. I dont think it will do much but it might prolong a costly repair. I had mine rebuilt in a 97 Grand Cherokee (2wd) a year ago and the bill was right around $2000.00 I woul dreccommend taking it somewhere and having a transmission specialist tell you exactly what is wrong, and what to expect for a bill.

i own a repair shop, and its probably getting ready to go out,,they do this,,id have the leak fixed, and have it serviced ,,and see if that helps it,it might help it a lot,if the fluid still looks good in it,,then this means its not got the clutch,s and bands yet,,so that s good thing,,take it by a good transmission shop, and let them test drive it,they might be able to save it,,good luck hope this help,s.

if the fluid level is not low and the trans is slipping than most likely it is getting worn and loosing pump pressure when the car is at idle. your best bet is having a competent trans shop or dealer check it out for you.
