I would. But my cats love their Science Diet and turn their noses up at canned food.

I would if I had really good instincts, but remember, cats have about the mentality of a human three year old. Offer a human three-year old a choice between a diet of good, balanced, nutritious meals and a diet of candy, and which do you think he'd pick?

Many cats are like that. They develop a taste for kibble and it's like candy to them. Unfortunately it's even worse for them than too much candy is for human kids. Too much candy will ruin a kid's teeth, but teeth can be repaired or even replaced. Dry food will ruin a cat's kidneys, and they can't be fixed or replaced.

Before the introduction of dry cat foods, chronic renal failure was almost unheard of in cats. Now it's so common that many vets think it's a normal part of the aging process!

You'll learn more about feline nutrition than most vets know, and you'll get some tips on converting a kibble addict to a healthy diet.

You'll also learn how to read a pet food label, and that will let you see why Science Diet is among the crappiest cat foods on the market.

They say it is best to find a good quality food that they will like and stick to it. But we give our 3 cats a can of fancy feast every Sunday, but it is split between them all.

So it is a great treat for them but by doing it this way they eat healthier. BTW we give them Science Diet Lite dry cat food.

Some people would say only 1/3 of a can? But they all finish and each go happily off to nap with a smile on their face. We do not want to overfeed them as they are kind of overweight anyway.

Yea, I would but I'm not a cat. Well, most of the time I'm not. My cats generally just like their dry kibble but the female, every now and then (like about once a week), will stand on the washing machine when I'm doing stuff in the kitchen, kind of point herself in the direction of where the canned cat food is kept (on top of the frig) and do this special "meow" to indicate that she would really like some canned food for a change. I give it to them (the male cat never asks but we share anyway) and they are content for another week. They aren't real demanding as far as food goes so when they want something (freshly cooked chicken is a real special treat and they never eat much), I usually indulge them. In the past, I had a cat who LOVED seafood and we'd fight over who gets to eat most of it--it was funny (he actually was very gentlemanly about it, just made sure you knew he was waiting there for some more, please).

Actually, most cats are pretty set in their ways and don't like new, unfamiliar foods. They generally turn their noses up to it. Not all cats, but most. Feeding him a balanced diet like Science Diet is the thing for your cat.

that's becuase dry kibble can be addictive to certain cats. My one year old would eat only kibble every day if I allowed it. Use to be when I put down wet food, he'd turn up his nose at it and refuse to eat it and my 8 year old will go and lap it up. But I refused to give in to kitten's manipulation. If he did not eat his wet in the morning, I'd serve another bowl of it in the afternoon. By then he's hungry enough to eat so he eats it. Now, he eats his wet food and his dry food. I would not put any cat of mine on a dry-food only diet. In fact my cats' diet is 1 5.5 oz can of wet and a handful of dry kibble each a day.

Yea I would. My cats eat both dry and canned every day. They seem to like it. They don't like the Science Diet canned food though, they like Fancy Feast only.

I would. And so does my cat! Every time I go shopping for cat food I rotate the flavors of his favorite and healthiest brand.
Mr. Bubs (my cat) is very finicky about his meals, and he loves it whenever he tries new flavors. I also feed him a mix of both dry and wet food for more variety in his diet. He is now 1 going on 2 years old, and a strong, healthy boy!!!

Yes!

I gave my cat the same food again and again for the past 2 years, and I think she hates it. Only time when she actually eats is when she's really hungry.
I want to give her new varieties. Good thing there's kitty treats and canned foods!

Cats don't think of food in the same way as we do.
They are much more concerned about availability.
If it is a good quality food, they probably won't get tired of it.
Some cats act picky, but they are really craving vitamins.
