You are not alone. There is help. The Stuttering Foundation of America helped our family. I have several uncles and cousins who stutter. One went to a specialist for therapy. The others got the book "Self Therapy for the Stutterer" from the Foundation. You might find it in your library. Check out the Foundation's web site at www.stutteringhelp.org.

Yes, I stutter alot when I am nervous, which is like almost all of the time. I hate it and when I try not to stutter I just stutter even more. But it only happens when I am nervous.

Yes, and their are methods to help you work on this situation.
There's a singer who sings perfectly, but when he stops he has a difficult time speaking. I can't think of his name.
There are different methods to help with this situation.
One method is cd's with subliminal messages - I know of online sites if you google: subliminal cd's, or do this with yahoo search.I have the cd's and my favorite is communication - subliminal cd. It helps me to direct my point of view.
They tell you to relax, and have certain confidence building techniquest, while you hear the ocean waves.
Another method to help is to slow down, and listen. People find it facinating when you actually listen to their problem or whatever they have to say.
Many times it's because people are very highly intelligent and their mind works much faster than their speech. They may have the stuttering or public speaking situations, until they work on them.
I took speech classes in college, and then a public speaking class. I usually was in the advanced classes in school, and this is something I chose to work on to help me.
I hope this helps. There are many of us out there with the same challenge.
Notice I did not call this a problem, and I choose to call it a challenge.
GOD bless.
