It's like this, I smoke pot/weed/mj/cannabis and I want my parents to know.
Why you ask?
Well, basically, I don't like having to sneak around. At 18 I feel like I should be able to work things out rationally with them, we're all adults in this house at least nominally. They've always been honest with me and we're all on good terms.
Except I know they're against it, which they remind me of whenever I mention something related. I know it's because they care about me I understand, but I also know they did it at my age and understand that it's relatively harmless. I'm in the top 10% of my class graduating this spring, have a 4.1 gpa and will be attending a good college next year. Sometimes I smoke with the class valedictorian I have a job, do extracurriculars etc, I just like to get high on a saturday night to unwind with my friends.
Of course there's no excuse for the fact that it's illegal but I know not to put my self in stupid situations where I could get arrested.

You can put it this way, Mom and dad I smoke pot. After the initial shock wears off you can say, At least I'm not out there drinking and driving. That's what I said to my ex husband about our son. I would rather have him doing that instead of being on the road drinking and driving. At least when your smoking pot the only thing your hurting is the refrigerator. lol. He didn't like that because thats what he did (drink and drive) and had a couple accidents. No one hurt but him luckily. Good luck.

Well, if you want to tell them, just tell them. However, I noticed that you said something about "in this house" which implies that you live with them...if this is true, you need to be prepared for if they react badly and forbid you from smoking as long as you're living under their roof. They have a lot more control when you're still hanging around. If you decide to come clean with them anyways, just make sure they know the facts and that they aren't being brainwashed into believing that weed is some kind of hardcore hallucinogen that makes you crazy and dumb.

Don't use or keep pot in their home; it's not fair since it is illegal.
