I was dating this girl while her ex was living with her. They've been childhood friends and she took him in when no one else did. Well, as we spent more time together, her ex would call her up just to find out what she was doing. It wasn't enough that she was his meal ticket. Well things got more unbearable when we were officially together. He was constantly calling and sending letters while he was at alcohol rehab, even proposing to marry her. The last straw was the day before her birthday when she was planning to go out with him instead me, her boyfriend. He was already out of rehab by then. She was even contemplating marrying him. That was my cue to leave her apartment and tell her not to call me. Needless to say, I didn't want to be with her and worry about his constant presence and or phone calls. We're now friends, but I'm still not over her. The thing is that I want her to be with me. I just think that I over reacted.

You did not over react. You are lucky you got away. She wants to be a mother and she feels guilty about her ex for some reason. That is why she took him in, supported him and chose him over you. She still loves him in her own peculiar way.
You are smart you left... The fact that she didn't put her foot down and do something about his harassment paints the picture for me.
You will have to let it go as a lesson in life and a bad experience, but I think now you have a better understanding of the dependent co dependent roles people take in life.
You have lots of living to do , so get out there and find a healthy relationship with someone.....

U didnt over-react.........if she wanted to be with u, she would have told this other guy straight....i think u shud try to move on and go out and hav a good time wit ur friends!!! THEN.....she'll prob b jealous and come running bk!! xxxx GOOD LUCK!
