There are the Essene gospels which are dismissed by 99% of the Christian community (as the Council of Nicea was quick to order their destruction--luckily, they were hidden). There are a few accounts of Jesus' existence by Roman historians (the name escapes me), but beyond that, there's really nothing.

Yes, there are. However if you want to read about what any of them have to say, I suggest you read what historians have to say about the authorship of these writings. And also most of the writings about Jesus refer to him as Christ which was a common name. So there is a question as to just who these people were talking about. The writing of Josephus mention Jesus. But many historians question if the passages about him were actually written by Josephus since they are not in the style or the language that Josephus used..There are other early Christian books that were not included in the Bible that also mention Jesus and his life. However, major biblical scholars whether they be Christian, Jewish or atheist consider them to be fakes. No historian during the time that Christ was alive wrote a word about him.

There are a set of separate gospels called the Gnostic Gospels, which portray Jesus differently, but I don't know much about them..

You'll find thouands of books about Jesus in the bookstore as if you'll get a better information than the gospels.
