I'm dating someone 18 years older than me. I'm a grown woman with a child (divorced) and he is a single dad. Just curious if people honestly have issues with age differences. He has not proposed marriage or anything, but we've discussed life planning and such (how the age difference affects finances, retirement and physical activity). We both are healthy runners, and get along like best friends. We've dated for five years.

i say go for it girl! when you are consenting adults, it is up to YOU --what makes YOU happy. so if he does it for you
BE HAPPY---there are not a lot of chances in this world to be really happy and if you think you have it ---by all means keep it.

Age is just a number!! Issues will arise down the road with life planning and such...but it seems that both of you have taken these into consideration and thats the important thing. Why let other peoples issues get in the way of your (and his) happiness. Congratulations on finding a best friend that can also be your lover. ENJOY it !

You guys been together for five years. Age is just a number. I'm 23 years old boyfriend is 35. When mom was 18 years old she met my dad who was 52 at that time. They lasted 22 years together. Dad died in 2002 age 78.

Mom is now dating a 67 year old. Mom's 42

Sister is now 23- her husband is 45. She got married when she was 16 years old. They both now have three beautiful children.

Nothing to worry about. Just have a great communication, be there for each other, and etc.

Best of Luck

I don't think we should allow society to dictate age restrictions in relationships. There is a 21 year age gap between my boyfriend and I (I'm 27). I have never been happier in my life. Just like with any relationship, it needs to have the essentials like trust, understanding, communication, interests, goals, etc. If those elements are in place, then nothing else matters. Love is the greatest feeling in the world, and age shouldn't stop anyone from experiencing it.

To a wise person, age is nothing but a state of mind. If you can participate in things you like to do including sports, social events and sex, why would age deter you at all ? Pere pressure is the only possible reason and you really should follow you heart, your true inner feelings. If it feels good to be together, then "GO FOR IT" !

Since u're both adults, it's not a big deal. If u were 17-18, yeah BIG deal. U've been dating 5 yrs., u've already discussed the important issues, don't worry about it. Go on & enjoy urselves, if it leads to marriage, great! (I hope it does!) Good Luck

Age is only a number. If you have a good relationship and it works for the both of you then that's all that matters.

Generally the issue with age difference happens with young people. You are both mature adults who are capable of making good decisions. Most people are okay with it.

18 years is a LOT! but if you honestly think you love him then age shouldn't matter. Just remember, if you have children one of you is probably going to die a lot sooner than the other, which is bad for the one left behind and the child!
