I accidentally purchased frosted flakes instead of regular corn flakes. The frosted flakes are much to sweet for my taste and I can't bring myself to eat it. I don't want the entire bag to go to waste. How can I remove the frosting from the flakes without causing them to be soggy?

I'm a vegetarian so coating pork chops is out of the question. Sugar isn't good for birds...I don't know about squirrals but i would rather not contribute to the possible death of the little critters from an over load of glucose. I never watched cartoons so I was never a really big fan of tony the tiger. I just tried add a small amount of milk and then dumping sugar milk and adding more milk. still too sweet and somewhat soggy now. ugh. I'm at a loss!!!! what to do...what to do....please someone?

Pour a little bit of milk in, let it sit for a second until most of the frosting dissolves. Then, pour the sugar milk out and put the regular amount of milk in and eat! I do this just because I think frosted flakes are good but just a bit too sweet but my husband likes em the way they are.

You can't remove the frosting without soaking them, but I once made cookies with frosted instead of regular corn flakes, reducing the amount of sugar called for in the recipe.

What about buying a box or regular flakes, then make your bowls half and half? It would cut the sweetness quite a bit and you'll end up wit twice the cereal!

You can't. Why not consider tossing them out on the lawn for the birds and squirrels? Then they would not be going to waste.

Use them to make a big bag of trail mix with nuts, granola, and other goodies. you won't need to add the m&m's now because they will give the mix the sweetness you need.
