I'm running Windows XP Media Center with all the service packs. I had loaded the K-Lite Codec pack a few months ago and everything was working fine. One of my wonderful children (grrr) was playing around and now I'm finding that many of the videos won't play within Media Center. They'll if run directly from Media Player, but not within Media Center.
It only seems to be AVI files that don't play. And furthermore, they seem to be XVid encoded files. I have downloaded and reinstalled the XVid codec, but this hasn't helped.
Why would they play well in Media Player (and media player classic), but not in Media Center itself? I'm thinking that somehow, Media Center needs to be made aware of which codec to use for XVid encoded AVI files, but I don't know how to do it.
Thanks y'all!

Thanks for the input guys. Just a couple responses;
Windows XP Media Center is an OS, reloading means reloading the OS. Only a solution of last resort...
Loading the FFDSHOW codec didn't help. I still can't view the XVid encoded files.
What I'd really like to do is get rid of ALL codecs except those issued by MS to start from scratch.
Thanks again for your input guys!
