Why when you scratch a birds neck or head do they call it scritches instead of scratches? seriously....I'm so wondering this.

It's a Sally Blanchard thing. LOL She's an avian Goddess that has come up with some new vocabulary words for us, and Scritches is one of them. Bappy in Sally language is a baby parrot.

I don't know why...just so we avian wierdo's can have our own language, I guess? LOL

Ya know...I used to wonder the same thing...untill I finally realized that it was just something that only bird people can do to only birds.
....It makes the whole thing special, just for the birds and those of us that do the 'scritching' of those loved birds.....
I kinda didn't really like it at first....then I just started letting it be.
And now I tell my Illigers Macaw that....
..".'Mommas' givin' baby some scritches?.....huh?...my little man.....Oh such a pretty bird..and oh, such a Big Bird too!"...
hahahaha That is what I say at the beginning of him gettig his lovins from me... hahaha I never really realized what it sounded like until I just wrote them down ..here.
Thanks for the insight!
Have fun with your boid!

My tiel does not care what I call it as long as I do it to his liking. If not well there goes my fingernail. If he wants his crest to be scritched or scratched, believe me he will let me know.
