I am writing a paper on sobriety checkpoints and i need to know this. this is the one answer i couldn't find.

I am going strictly from memory because my paperwork is not in front of me. In 2005 there were approximately 45000 traffic collision related fatalities. Of these, approximately 15000 were alcohol related. If you want more, I have stats from 2000 to present.

Whatever the percentage is, it's too high. No, I don't know someone that was killed by a drunk driver, but it's one crime that really pisses me off.

friend to drive you home instead.............
