I have a 8 month old daughter, the only thing close to a period i've had was for a couple weeks after i had her and thats it ( i know thats normal) but i havent had my period since , I am on the mini pill, and breastfeeding / pumping , are those 2 things affecting my period from coming back ? and if so should i stop one of them or is it okay to continue .... I see my dr. soon but I wanted to ask to see if anyone else has delt with it ...
Thank you

As long as you're breastfeeding exclusively, you may not get your period back for months. This is completely normal and no cause for concern. Once you start supplementing or if you even give your baby a pacifier, you may start your periods again. The mini-pill may give you lighter periods once they start to come back, but mostly it's the breastfeeding that's preventing them. It's a natural thing that happens with a lactating mother.

It took about a month after I finished breastfeeding for my period to come back. Then it was every 28 days like clockwork. I was on the mini-pill while breastfeeding as well. Don't forget, you can still get pregnant again even if you are breastfeeding and don't have your period.

That's fine. Your hormones aren't settled enough to give your cycle back, so once you stop breastfeeding you might find that it returns.
My daughter is 20 months old and I think I've had about 4 since she was born- I was breastfeeding for 18 months though.
There's no need to quit the pill or breastfeeding just to get your period back- why would you want it !?

I am not a mom yet, but I have a lot of friends and family that have had babies recently. This is normal, If you are still breastfeeding there is no need to worry, I think one of the benifits of breastfeeding is that you dont get your period for quite some times. Some women will still get their periods while they are breastfeeing, My sister did get hers around 4 months, but she had slowed down on how often she fed.

I'm on the same situation with you - and I'm not even on the pill.
So I guess it's normal. I had my period in the end of week 6 post partum and haven't got it again since. I'm breastfeeding too!
Just be happy that your period hasn't come back yet (I'm enjoying it too!). Some moms reported that they don't get their period until their kids are 14 months old.

I breastfed my daughter and my first period was when she was 13 months old! Some women start menstrating as soon as a sippy or solids are introduced, and others won't have a period until weaning is complete. Both are perfectly normal.

your period won't return (in most cases) until breastfeeds are at least 4hrs apart. Mine came back at 10months after the birth. Why would you want it back. Make the most of it. Continue feeding and the pill. It doesn't matter how long it takes for your period to come back

Nursing does delay the return of your period. That along with the mini pill is probably what is causing the delay.
