I'm tempted to cut my own bangs. i pretty much want them chunky and straight across (think nelly furtados new bangs). Any tips?

Try cutting from different angles, it gives the hair a bit of lift. I have to work on mine tonight somehow they are uneven all of a sudden. Must have been asleep when i cut it last lol.

I'm with just about everyone else. Have a professional do it. Growing up how many kids had their mom cut their bangs and they just didn't look right.... and mom had "experience" cuz she did it all the time? lol

I saw on TV once some expert saying you should grab the hair, twist it and then snip. TRIED IT.... and ended up spending forever trying to make sure it was even because it wasn't like they said it would be. Maybe cuz I have really thick hair...who knows.

Also saw an expert who said lay it flat against your forehead and then carefully snip across using your own face as a guide. TRIED IT....when I let go, my bangs were way too short and I ended up pushing them up with the rest of the hair so I didn't look like I had bangs. Maybe I applied too much pressure. :-)

Unless you want to practice on yourself and not care what the results may be, go to a professional.

Really, dont do it.
Go to your stylist, who should do it for free or a small fee.
If you dont have a particular stylist, most salons will only charge about $5 to do it.
Leave it to the professionals, they have the right equipment, and hopefully the right skills to assess your natural hair growth, and they will be able to work it so you dont end up having terrible bangs!

ehhh i wouldent attempt it, b/c theyre straight across and not side bangs its possible they might end up crooked [ my friend did it lol, and another friend let her sister do it and they both look horrible >< ] so i think it'd be a good idea to invest in going to a hairdresser and getting it professionally done b/c once u mess up your going to have to wait till it grows back lol

I just watched this on Rachael Ray the other day. Go to her website ( I don't know the address). She said she was posting the info on it.

go to a stylist would be my best advice, it's not that expensive to just get bangs.
