You need to add a little more detail to the question but I am a republican and I follow nascar but am not a huge fan. I know a handful of drivers (Richard Petty, Dale Jr and Kirk Sheldermine-whoever he is) have said their party affiliation but that really doesn't matter to me since it is a sport and has nothing to do with politics. I would bet that the political affiliation of the fans is probably split since the races take place in both democratic and republican strongholds. I have know a number of die-hard far left democrats who are huge nascar fans. However, I think that liberals would like to think that nascar fans are republican since it would agree with their untrue and childish stereotype of republicans as backward and the stereotype of nascar fans as uneducated.
BTW, if you just vote based on what other people like sports figures or hollywood celebrities what like they you need to start making decisions for yourself.

From what I've seen most of the drivers are republicans, and as a fan I am too. But I don't see where the drivers political leanings have anything to do with NASCAR.

It seems that most, (if not 99%), of the NASCAR drivers are Republican. I remember Richard Petty and Cale Yarborough running as Republicans when they both ran for their local elections. In 2004, Kirk Shelmerdine had "Vote 4 Bush" emblazioned on his car #72.

Many of the old guard like Petty and Dale Earhardt, Sr. endorsed Republican candidates. Ward Burton is an outspoken Republican. Also, contrary to some people's beliefs, Jimmie Johnson is very conservative and most conservatives I know are Republican. I've not heard many of the young drivers endorse any candidates, and think most of them have no party affiliation

Republican by far. Have you ever been to race? The Clintons would be best advised to stay away from any NASCAR track.

I'm not sure what you're asking, but...
Most of the drivers are republican and a majority of the fans are too. As for me, I'm a Democrat.

I would say there are more drivers that are Republican. As for the fans, it's probably pretty equal.
Me...I'm a Republican myself.
But it doesn't really matter...like someone said, It's all about goin' fast and turnin' left! ;)

Why does it matter its not like that they ahve to broadcast it all over the press its their own personal business and jsut because alot of their lives are open books just doesnt mean that we know every single little thing about them and I dont think that it matters as they have reasons for being whatever they are and voting for whoever they want and its all about racing and how good you are on the track nothing more.

ARE YOU KIDDING!!! Democrat!!! Nothing says back country rednecks other than 800 horsepower, beer, and slamming into each other!
Lets remember how it started... moonshiners trying to run from the cops...
I am more Republican than anything, but I am not saying anything bad about Democrat, I guess its just a sterotype of mine... but like I said party does not matter to me.

Are you referring to the drivers, fans or both? I myself am a Democrat. But I know that my favorite driver Dale Jr is a Republican!
