No one was sent to Hell. There is no "lake of fire". Jesus came to give direction to the people of that time ... his followers. He didn't "save" anyone by crucifixion. Everyone is responsbile for their own actions.

Because our sins went against God's Law. A payment was needed. A perfect sacrifice from a "spotless lamb". Jesus paid that price for all of us. No one can enter Heaven on our own merit. We were born with a sin nature that violates the Law. We stand guilty before God. However, all you need to do is accept what was done so that you do not have to go to Hell for your sins. Your sins send you to Hell. Jesus gets you out.

ADDITION: Baptism doesn't save you. It's an outward declaration of your faith.

Here's an analogy. If you jump out of a plane without a parachute, you die because you transgressed the Law of Gravity. Now, a parachute would have saved you, but that is not the reason you died. Same with God. You have transgressed His Laws and will have to pay the price for that. However, you can put on Jesus to save yourself. It's your choice.

For the sin of mankind. Eve was tempted by Satin. Adam fell knowing she was going to be thrown out of the Garden. So
we all have a free will to have relationship with God. But that is a
choice; we all need to make for ourselves. There's more to the story but don't have time to write it all out. Sin is anything that will take you away from being with God. His love for us came with a price that Jesus paid, so we can live. So Jesus came to pay that price; so we can communicate to God without having Prophets, Priest and Kings. To intervene for us. History has a way of showing we all suffer from the same problem. Reading the Bible will show how we all sin and have a need for relationship with God. Good luck; I'll be praying for you!

The human race was sent to Hell before Jesus came and died to save us, because of man's original sin. Becuase we are naturally sinful and God didn't want His children to be condemned to Hell anymore, he sent Jesus to save us from Hell.
God Bless

The differnce is Man was under the law they had to serve God and follow the Law. When they sinned they had to make animal sacrafices. This was all an act of fairth. Now were under grace because of the Death of Jesus Christ we still have faith, but we dont have to follow the law, However we do so because we Love God. In both cases its a lack of faith.

The human race was not sent to hell. Not in the sense of the word hell. They were separated from God by sin.

God is not sending people to hell. He is SAVING us from hell. Hell is where we go without god's intervention.
No one can overcome death on their own power.
We die. We go to separation from God (hell) if we dont want Him to help us. Its part of the free will he has given us.
Before Jesus people were not sent to hell, they were dead (asleep but for awhile). They were not aware. An example is John, Chapter 11 (King James Bible) 11 "These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep. 12 Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleep, he shall do well. 13 Howbeit Jesus spake of his death:"
There are more examples in the old testament where death is referred to 'they be as asleep'.
Everyone will be given a chance to account and to
be rewarded for the choice they have made.

Daniel, Chapter 12 ...and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. 2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

Many theories about this. Many say men went to Abraham's Bosom, others say Purgatory, while still others say that time is not a factor to God and all regenerated people went to heaven because Jesus was already crucified in heaven. I personally hold to the Abraham's Bosom theory recorded in Luke.

Humans are naturally prone to sin. We forget about little sins and do not atone for them. Yahweh is very demanding. Plus, how many people paid their price for the inherent sin within us, caused by Eve. According to Christianity, Yeshua came so humans no longer had to really worry about the little things or our inherent sin. All you have to do is surrender to Him (Yeshua).

IF you read St. Luke 16 you would see that before Jesus (notice, it is Jesus, not jesus), before Jesus made Atonement even then, even from Abraham's time, people did live by faith. Those who lived by faith, after death, went to Paradise; those who did not live by faith, after death, went to "torments". Both those places WERE in Hades. Those who waited in Paradise portion of Hades were waiting for the deliverance of the Atonement.
