does it pay for out of state taxes you have to pay to go to college in a state you live in less than a year?

You are not supposed to use FA for anything besides educational expenses so paying your taxes would not be an authorized expense. If you are working part year in the state you go to school in but are not a resident I wonder why you are not having enough with held to pay the taxes. I was not a resident of the state I attended college in and I worked while in school but never had a problem with owning taxes while I worked. If you make very little funds you may even qualify for tax exempt status where you would not need to pay anyways so talk with a tax advisor.

You can use it for that if you want, but they're not going to increase your aid just to cover the taxes.
