Hiragana and katakana are phonetic, they're not quite "alphabets", like our alphabet. It is too difficult to describe how to write every character here, so these websites have the correct way to write each character in hiragana and katakana.

The Japanese use the same alphabet as you do - when they write alphabetised Japanese.
Japanese, like Chinese and Korean is written in ideograms, pictures that have pronunciation and meaning.
