Why do my cats insist on driving me crazy? They do everything I tell them NOT to do and never listen to me when I tell them to stop! Why?

PS: I *LOVE* my cats to pieces, they are like my children. I know I am definitely a cat person. I would never hurt them, or anything. This question was asked when my 4-year old black cat, Trickster, decided to run up and down the halls and high speed and crash into my other cat, Bandit. It was written "tongue-in-cheek". They don't literally "drive me crazy", well ok, maybe SOMETIMES they do. :) But I love them both dearly.

Also, Trickster has decided last year that he is no longer scared of the squirt bottle. LOL. In fact, he sometimes sits by the shower and "bites" at the water, trying to catch it, I think. Water doesn't phase him anymore. Cats are funny.

Dogs will do what you want them to (at least when you're around) because they're pack animals that need an alpha animal. Cats, on the other hand, are not pack animals. They can be trained to stay off the furniture and not pee on the rug, but it takes a lot of time and patience. They basically don't care about anything you say, other than words connected with food. What they care about is not getting squirted with water from a spray bottle when they do something "bad", so that's what you do every time they do something they aren't supposed to do. Yelling won't help, talking won't change anything, even swatting them doesn't do any good. Spraying them with water when you catch them in the act is the way to go.

All felines (excluding lions) are independent hunters, therefore they don't look to humans or any animal as their leaders, that explains why they don't listen to you. I personally have a similar problem with my kitten, like your cats, he doesn't listen. Squirt bottles don't work that well anyway (in my opinion), but holding your cat by the scruff of the neck (let its back legs touch the ground), the cat will get the idea pretty quickly.

no longer something a difficulty. Cats can circulate in & out of heat, plenty! now and returned, it is going to look as though there is not any end to it. talk on your roommate approximately getting the cat spayed. A cat in warmth is in all danger between the main persistent & stressful issues. I had a foster cat that went into warmth, thankfully in basic terms 2 days earlier her spay surgical treatment, so i did no longer ought to handle that noise for long. of direction, it quite is not counseled to get a cat spayed for the time of warmth, because it makes the surgical treatment somewhat greater complicated via greater beneficial blood circulate. anyhow, as I suggested, get your roommate to establish an spay appointment, to place the two you and the cat out of misery.

Cats do not train well, they are not trying to drive you crazy, it is just a by-product of them being cats.

Have you considered that maybe you may not really be a cat person?

It's really funny, my cat understands me. He's totally cool and fun to be with. Very loving and he knows when not to do something. I guess you can say for a cat, he is trained. I love him !!! Oh yeah, his name is Keifer Sutherland. LOL !!

Ha ha ha, that's the beauty of cats! They are not going to be told what to do! They are not "sell-outs" like dogs.

Cats are just psycho. They somehow know exactly what will annoy you at the worst moment.

You're excited, they're excited - what a rigamarole! What you put energy into INCREASES. Relax a little - let them be cats, you be a human.
