I personally would not keep her. Dogs do become a lot more protective and demanding when they become pregnant or nursing. Be aware though, if you take her to the pound, most likely she will be put to sleep.

Pits (not the only ones either, many dogs are same sex aggressive) are dog aggressive, but even the few who aren't need to be watched carefully. Responsible pit owners know this already. Her being pregnant didn't help that any. They should have been spayed...you should not be breeding if you understand so little about your chosen breed. Breeding should be more than throwing two dogs together.
EDIT: See link below for more info: "Never trust a pit bull not to fight...It is not a hate of other dogs that causes pit bulls to fight, but rather an "urge" to do so that has been bred into the dogs for many generations. Pit bulls may fight over hierarchic status, but external stimulus or excitement can also trigger a fight. Remember that any canine can fight, but pit bulls were bred specifically for their drive, intensity, and determination to win.
Pit bull owners must be aware of the remarkable fighting abilities these dogs posses and always keep in mind that pit bulls have the potential to inflict serious injury to other animals. A pit bull may not even be the one starting a conflict, but he has the genetics to finish it. Remember that pit bulls are almost always blamed no matter who initiated the hostilities, and often end up paying the price...as does the owner!
That said, some pit bulls get along great with other pets and may live happily with other dogs without incident. We just can't assume that this is true for all of them, or take for granted that pit bulls getting along with other pets today will do so tomorrow. Pit bull owners must have common sense and make sure they don't set their dogs up for failure by putting them in inappropriate situations."

When is your pregnant dog due to give birth? There are hormonal changes that take place as pregnancy progresses that may result in change of behaviour. Given the significant size difference between the breeds, your pitbull did not have to react extremely violently to cause harm to the chihuahua. The jaw of a pitbull is very strong and the neck region and windpipe of a chihuahua is very delicate. The fact that she has killed another dog, however, puts her in the category of "dangerous" dog. That does not mean that you have to give her up. The decision to give her up depends on the following: 1) Has your attitude changed toward her so that you could no longer view her with the same affection? 2) Because of her action, you must be very watchful of her behaviour around other dogs. Do not let her run unleashed with other dogs. Muzzle her when in public. Are you willing to do this? 3) Have both of your dogs spayed or neutered to prevent another pregnancy. Are you willing to make that committment? 4) Carefully monitor both of your dogs and people around the puppies. The female dog may be very protective and she obviously has a bite. The other dog may not like the change to pack dynamics that the puppies represent and may cause them harm. You will likely end up taking the puppies to a shelter. You could take her before the birth of her puppies. Please check the shelter to make sure it is a "no-kill shelter" and ask, too, if her behaviour can be evaluated. Remember that dogs are never "bad" in the sense that they plot nasty things. They are dogs and so act out their nature. It is our responsibility to ensure that no harm comes to them and that they do no harm to others.

Most Countries in Europe Pit Bulls are banned now because
they are regarded as to Viscious to be kept. There have been a lot of cases where Children have been very badly mauled and some
have been Killed by these Dogs so take great care.My advice to you is get rid of these Dogs, get a Labrador or two instead, you are best getting them Spayed in case this happens in future with other Dogs.

Why aren't they spayed. Spaying decreases aggression. Please fix your pets. The is no more room on this world for more. Especially the pit bulls because so many are dumped in shelters because of lack of responsibility. You took on these dogs and you need to keep them and figuer out a way to fix the situation. This most certainly means a qualified trainer. You can find a good one here

Fix your dogs to help their health and behavior.

Because of the dogs being not fixed an issue probably arrived as to who is top boss and who gets to breed. You may consider terminiating the spay because if the pregnant mom is the one who attacked you wouldn't want to bring pups in this world that might have a tendancy to be aggressive due to genetics. It would be a liability. There already enough pits that need homes too.

But deffinately get a trainer and get them fixed!
If you get rid of this dog you can bet on it getting put down. Live up to the responsibilities you took on and get a trainer.

Unfortunately, the pit bull breed is slowly being terminated because they are one of the world's most dangerous dogs.
Either way, I still don't agree with it.
But if one of the pit bulls are pregnant, she may have thought the chihuahua was a threat, therefore killed her. Maybe she didn't mean to harm her as bad as she did?

okay that pit has now killed your chihuahua . What if that had been a kid? This dog has tasted blood now and it is time to put the dog down. It is now considered a killer. why in god's name did you have a chihuahua around a pit to begin with ,that is asking for trouble . Please do yourself a favor and get rid of the dogs and dont have anymore .

I won't get best answer, but...
1) The gent above is right, do not keep the dogs (yes, both) if you have children!
2) How do you know the other dog was not somehow involved?
3) If you're still thinking of somehow keeping them, at least call the vet and ask them for the name / number of someone who can evaluate their behavior, and tell them why.
Err on the side of caution.

I'm really very sorry. You should call your local humane society. My son had his face messed up badly by a pit bull that was nothing but sweet, and completely unprovoked, he was attacked. They said that once this happens, there really is nothing that can be done. Given that their are puppys involved, they may wait for term, but avoid a huge and deadly problem--get help with this.
My heart goes out to you.
