My dog is 6 months old and its almost been a week. She is an Aussie and they are hyper. She wont stop jumping on the beds and I know she is doing too much. If we create her she is worse. I think I need to clean her stitches so they can heal better but Im not sure if I should.

Dried blood on her skin will not impair the healing of the wound. The greatest concern is infection. So check: no foul smell, no pus, no red streaks radiating out from the incision, no lethargic behaviour or refusal to eat. Exhibiting any of these is reason to call your vet. You also want to ensure that there is no fresh blood. That would be the only reason to clean her at this point. Clean the wound with Benadine solution (same kind that is used on humans before incisions are made during operations). This is a germicide. You could also wet a clean paper towel and gently rub the dried blood from around the incision. Do not touch the incision directly. Not sure about any of this? Call your vet who will provide instructions for wound care.

It is best to use a saline solution (you can buy this at a drug store) on a sterile cotton swab and gently clean around the incision. After the incision is clean you can use bentadine on a sterile cotton swab and also dab this around the incision. If the incision is puffy, red and/or you see a discharge from the wound, see your vet right away as the pup most likely has an infection and will require treatment.
As a side note, if your dog is jumping on the beds and otherwise acting hyper it sounds like you and your dog should get some obedience training so that you can control her behavior. She is still young and will benefit greatly from going to classes, plus it's fun for her and for you! As for putting her in the crate, this should be part of her daily routine -- anytime you can not watch her, when you are away and at night she should be in her crate until you can trust her 100% in the house by herself.

My dog has gotten bloddy stitches before as well, don't clean it off with any medicine, just get a towel with water and very gently tap the stiches and the blodd will slowly stain off. I recommend that tomorrow or even nw, call your vets. Bloody stiches is bad and may cause an infection, if your dog gets an infection you will have to buy a lot of medicine, thus spending hundreds. So before this bad thing might happens contact the vet.

as long as the area is not swollen and red or puffy, if you think you need to do something to clean them then don't use anything but a warm washcloth. hold it on the area for a few mins and then pick off the dirt. if you see any redness or swelling or pus, call your vet she may be having a suture reaction. don't use soaps or neosporin as it may cause the area to dry out and itch. causing her to chew at the stitches. good luck.

Is there fresh blood on her stitches or old dry blood? If it is old dried blood, it isn't a problem. She should be getting stitches out in a few days, right? If it is fresh blood, you should take her to the vet and make sure everything is okay.

I would call your vet to get some advice. In the meantime, a soft, clean cloth in warm water will do the trick. It may even calm the pup down for awhile (or pee on you). Good luck.

It is usually safe to use hydrogen peroxide. If the area around the stitches is red, inflammed or there is pus draining, you may need to see your vet.
