They are and they aren't.
Paradise is a part of heaven, a temporary resting place for those spirits which have departed from their bodies and are waiting for the day of the glorious Resurrection upon which they shall receive perfect spiritual bodies as Jesus had when He rose from the dead.
However, it is very different from the throne room of God where the 24 elders, and four beasts realm. By ascension Jesus was in fact referring to His claiming of the throne upon which He would receive and made clear later in His statement "All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth."
Paul explained this best:
Philippians 2
5Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 6Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. 9Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Where do you get idea that Heaven and paradise are two different places? It doesn't mention heaven and paradise in those verses. Heaven IS paradise. It is a perfect place - without sin, disease, sorrow, etc. Those are just two different words, but are the same place.

It's probably obvious to you, but I don't see the connection at all. Could you possibly explain more clearly what that comment had to do with heaven and paradise?

Paradise existed before he died. That is where people from the old testament went until Jesus died, then they went to heaven, That is how it was explained to me.

Jesus said He committed His spirit to His Father when He was on the cross. Jesus, here, is speaking of His bodily ascension. Two different things, my friend.

I think He said: Quit clinging to me woman. I think it meant, quit leaning or clinging to me, I will be incapasitated for a while. You will have to stand up on your own two feet, and make decisions.
Then He told Mary, to announce to the world, He is Risen.

Good try, but not a viable argument. Paradise and Heaven are not the same place. Paradise is for Muslims, heaven is for Christians.

Paradise is a place of reward. . .and once our reward is collected, we're kicked out of paradise, like a gambler who's run out of money.
