It is art, however, as permanent as people think it is...it isn't. So much talent is going to be buried, burned or turned to dust. Some tattooists are so very talented, they should put their work on canvas. At least that will be around a bit more than 50-60 years. P.S. All these 18 year old girls getting tattoo's...well...they should go to a biker convention and see what a tattoo looks like on a 75 year old grandmother. Not Good.

I think it is art!

I love to watch the tattoo shows (Inked, Miami Ink...) and the artists really do need creativity and skills to make a great tattoo.

It's amazing how people can give the vaguest description of their ideal tattoo, and the artist turns it into a huge, elaborate design that is actually drawn very well. I mean, it could be put on a canvas and that's "more art than anything" (exageration).

Tattoos are definately more of an art form than like...a random newspaper glued to this huge canvas and sold for thousands.

I think that tattoo is art. I have two tattoo's on me. One on my left shoulder blade that my husband drew the picture and the tattoo apprenticed put on me and the other is on my right shoulder. I know that I can not do what those two people have done because I got each one in different states for different reasons and they still mean the same from the first day that I got them. Tell me of someone that can do that and is not an artist?
Here is a site for your presentation. Good luck!

I definitely think tattoo's are a form of art. Just an art form done on the body rather than paper or a canvas etc. Not only does it take skills but also creativity as well to create a great tattoo, Just as it takes skills and creativity to create a great painting or sculpture.

Even if a person disagrees with tattoos It's hard to see how you could not consider it a art form. While some may not like the medium it is still very much artwork.

for your presentation can you use pictures? if you can then i think you definitely should find some tattoos that would be considered art. i think my tattoos are art. but there are definitely some tattoos that are crap. tho... not all art looks good right? i mean, everybody has different taste in art. here are my husband and my tattoos feel free to use the images in your presentation if you want. i definitely think they are art. also look up the artist "nikko hurtado" at ignition tattoos in california. he is definitely an artist. the canvas he uses is just ink.

Heck yea it is. My body's the canvas and all ink is art. Even if some of it isn't good. They tell stories just like a Van Gogh of Picasso does. It is most definately art.

I think that a tatoo is art. Although I am not the kind of person who would get one, i believe that it is still art, just on a different type of canvas. There are all different forms of art, not just strictly paints on canvas, for example.

Good luck!

That really would depend on who you ask since art is different for everyone. everyone thinks of art differently and likes different styles, subject matter, and techniques. In my own opinion i think its art because it was used centuries ago as a form of representation and art. you should goggle tattoo history its really interesting it goes way back

Yea, because it generally has meaning or represents something -- kinda like other forms of art. And, like other forms of art, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
