Labs are very smart dogs. I have 2 and the intelligence and awareness they have is amazing. They learn very quickly, but the key for you is perseverance and a lot of positive reinforcement.
If you have no idea, I would suggest getting your pup into some puppy pre-school classes. It's also good for the dog as it is a great opportunity for socialisation.
I am fairly adverse to over-training dogs - I hate it when people train their dogs to the point that they become robots and lose their personality. It doesn't hurt for your dog to have a bit of cheekiness, so long as you can maintain good control over it when necessary.
Be careful not to get sucked into old wives tales, like rubbing their nose in their accidents. Buy a reputable book on training puppies.
Most of all enjoy - you will have a lot of wonderful, heart-warming years with your lab. They make everything seem worth it.

Well for House training every time your puppy eats or drinks give it a few minutes and make sure you take it out. I would wait until it is about 6 months old to take it to an obedience program. Check your area for a Local Kennel Club they usually have obedience programs or look for a trainer in your area. If you have childern that are around 9 years old look into 4-H. Its Free and its great for your child and puppy.

Train as in what? Housetrain? Train to do tricks? More details will help. Puppy training classes are great and Labs learn very fast. I have taught one of my 17 week old Lab puppies to speak on command, sit, give paw, lay, and stay. The other knows it all but the give paw.

You can do a lot of things to train first off you must be consistent. If you need to potty train you can get wee wee pads and as the pooch gets older move them out side.Or there is some spray they have out it really really stinks it's called Complete Puppy Trainer House breaking spray. Like I said it really smells bad but it did work for my pooch. You can fine it at most pet stores. Good luck

Labs are SMART.I really don't like to kennel train, so pick up his (or her) water and food at about 6:00pm. Make sure you let him out just before you go to bed. Let him out first thing in the morning. Remember to praise him if he does well. That little sweety will catch on in a New York minute.

I started training my dog at 8 weeks by 10 she could sit, labs are a bit slower to mature but must be better for training,
use treats, find something your dog loves then fisrt teach him/her to sit by pushing down on its rear put your finger just above the hind leg and press down, also use a hand command when you say sit, try this it really works, and you can apply it to any action you want

train it to go potty outside or leash training. If its potty training, they can hold there pee 1 hour for every month there alive, so you would have to take the pup out about every 40 min, very soon he will be asking you to take him out. as far as pooping goes, it is easier to train them if you feed them the highest quality food you can afford, because the better the food the smaller and less often they poop.

Learning how to train your dog will improve your life and hers, enhance the bond between you, and ensure her safety and it can be a lot of fun. Dogs are usually eager to learn, and the key to success is good communication. Your dog needs to understand how you’d like her to behave and why it’s in her best interest to comply with your wishes.
