When we sleep, our voluntary responses shut of(movement, speech, smell) sometimes we enter REM or dream sleep with our senses still on. This can result in talking, thrashing and other unusual things. This is especially true if you are overly tired.

dont feel alone, most of us have talked in our sleep at one time or another. I used to sleep walk and talk in my sleep when I was small, I thank god grew out of walking in my sleep. the talking part I don't think that you can reallycontrol it. maybe try to make yourself really tired so that you sleep deeper.. but there is nothing wrong with talking in your sleep unless you have secrets that you keep.. just like the song goes..talking in your sleep, secrets that you keep.. it is a good song. but usually when you talking in your sleep you are dealing with \a dream, and are ina dream state and so you are acting out so to speak.. and you could always get one of those voice activated recorders if your curious as to what you say while your sleeping, maybe that would cure it. heres to good dreams

My doctor tells me it's usually brought on by stress. She says that sometimes when you have extra stress it can cause you to sleep restlessly, to talk, to sleepwalk, etc. Most people aren't effected by this frequently enough to worry, but those that are should seek help from a doctor or sleep clinic as there may be other under lying problems as well.
