All he did was hold a stethoscope to my pup's chest for what prolly amounted to five seconds, wiggle her ears *anyone know why?* and then check her eyes on request. Didn't weigh her, didn't get her to even stand up for him, didn't even ask how old she was. Should I be concerned?

He also tried to give her a vaccine she already had, practically had the needle in her before he stopped, even though we were protesting as soon as he was reaching for the needle. To top it off, he reffered to our male dog as a she repeatedly, even after being corrected, and the new female puppy as a he.

Is it a bright idea to go back to this guy? my mom's been going to him for all of our other animals, but I'm more than turned off that he treated our two STRAY cats with better care than my new papillon *yes, PB, or so the papers say* puppy.

The way it looks, you tell him what's wrong with the dog, he just doles out the meds.

Find a new vet! That does not sound good at all.

As I would never go back to a Doctor for myself that I did not feel some trust for I would never take my dog to a Vet I could not trust. Actual ability aside, the best vet in the world, if they come off as someone untrustworthy should not be your vet. And I fear to say there will be vets who are out for the money, praying on the love people have for their small animals to their own profit. As with any profession there will be jerks and sleazes.

Shop around, ask local vet offices if you can do an interview because you are looking for the right vet for your dog. Most will give at least a short phone interview if you set it up. You can ask questions then about their philosophy concerning their patients and get a feel for them as a person.

No, he does not sound like a good vet at all. I have not been to a vet like that ever.

My vet as soon as I walk in with my dog for my appointment the receptionist ask to take weight. If they don't take weight then the vet takes the weight in the room that we are in. As soon as someone comes in they ask several questions such as: how's your dog doing? What do you feed your dog? What brings you here today? Any concerns? Stuff like that.

Before they touch my dog they try to get my dog to be friendly. They take treats and hand it to her and talk to her. After that they do a physical exam by looking at her body, taking a stethoscope and listening to her heart, lungs, eyes, ears, and taking the temp.

They have all the information in the system so they go over and review the past information and the current input information. They then discuss the visit and proceed for the teatment.

Based on my experience and your experience you should find another vet to go to. As for the wiggling of the ears I have no clue why. If your vet gave another dose of the vaccine then that's definately a no no. Good Luck.

Bottom line, you're expressing a vote of no confidence for this vet. DON"T GO BACK. I'm sure he charged you for this fine service and at a pretty penny, right?

He sounds incompetent. If the dog already had the vaccine and he tried to give it again, he obvioulsy didn't take time to consult the dog's chart, or worse, didn't chart giving the vaccine in the first place!

I hope it doesn't happen, but if this guy was this lacksadaisal at what sounds like should've been a routine visit, how confident would you be treating your pets in an emergency or for a serious illness?

Dont go back to him. Find a vet that actually cares for the animals and will pay attention to it and u as well. Thats the kind of vet that I think doesnt even know why he's a vet. A true vet loves animals and wouldnt be as sloppy as that... that... "____!" I can fill in the blank w just about anything...

Not very good bedside manors or even good practices.Yes I would see another vet for a good check up.Thank goodness you caught the vacination I have known of people going straight home and giving a parvo shot way tooo soon and throwing the dog into full blown Parvo. It pays to stay on top of all medical treatment for those we love.Vets are only human. He could have been nicer.Good Luck

I 'd find another vet seems like he is more for the money. I changed vets too because of a QUACK. I don't even have a degree in medicine and I think I knew more than my old vet did and my dog mini Doxi (wiener) hated him.She loves her Doc now.

If you are not comfortable with this vet treating your animals, then you should definately find a new vet or get another one from the office to look at your animals.

You should feel confident with your vet and that your he/she takes the time and the care with your animals that you feel he/she should.

I would report him to the vet association. Also, I would place an ad or something like that in the local papers. These wakcos need to be stopped once and for all.

NO NO NO!! I would find another vet immediately. At the VERY least, this is a completely unobservant vet, and that is not the type of vet I would want to trust the lives of my babies with.
