Is it stress or bad timing?

I have a 1cm kidney stone in my left upj of my ureter. I can not have surgery until Late Feb. due to insurance. For the past few weeks the pain has been minimual . Last Tuesday My father died unexpectantly and now my stone is acting up. The pain is almost unbearable and my urine is pure blood. Is it possible that this flare up is due to stress or is it just really bad timing?

Sure, it could absolutely be due to stress. When you're stressed your body works extra hard to try and combat illness. Ever notice when you're really stressed out how you sometimes get the beginnings of a cold? When the stress is released you feel better within a day or two.
