My HDTV television only supports the 480p and 1080i formats. It seems many networks broadcast in 720p. How is the 720p format converted to appear on my HDTV set?

Do you possibly have a link to some info on your TV, be it from the manufacturer or from a store, with that perhaps I could better help answer your question. My email is in my profile.

There is a setting in your cable/satellite box that allows you to change the picture format. Turn the channel to a 1080i broadcast, and then select the "Fixed" setting. This means any channel you watch will be upconverted to 1080i. However, that could be what the TV is doing anyway, I cant be too sure since I dont know what kind of TV, video inputs, and TV service you are using.
