I would check with the vet. He could have gum disease or something caught in his gums/teeth that needs removed, or believe it or not, he could need his anal glands expressed. My sister's jack russell gets nasty smelling breath when her glands are full. Either way, the vet can help with both.

I'm assuming he's had a dental check up? I give my "babies"
"GREENIES" (not the generic ones) I started getting them before they came out in stores. You can put your Pit on a white sheet with a Greenie and it does NOT stain ANYTHING, and makes for better doggy breath.
His food may be the cause as well. Science Diet is the best. I don't know how old your "baby" is, I had one that was like 12yrs. old. I fed her 1 can soft Science Diet in the morning. There was always dry food available to her. and at night a Greenie as a treat. I'm doing this as well with my Boxer and Lab. Never had a problem. They have "tic-tac" breath.
Hope this helps. If ya will, gimme feedback.

Take him to the vet to get his teeth cleaned. My pit chews a rawhide bone daily, and he has the sweetest breath. It also could be a hidden health problem that needs checked out.

Take your dog to the vet. Many times the chronic bad breath is an indication of dental decay that should be addressed quickly.

Do you brush your dogs teeth? If not you should at least 3 times a week to help with the odor. There is also something you can put in his water to help prevent tarter/plaque buildup. Make sure you get toothpaste that is specified for dogs.

You might want to take it to the vet for a check-up. Sometimes bad breath could be a sign of illness.
