You can always turn it into an electromagnet. Wrap a long (and I mean long) piece of coated copper wire around the piece (just like you'd wrap it around a pole.) make sure you go around at least 5 times - the more you go around, the stronger the magnetic field will be.

Then, connect the loose ends of the wire to a 9-V battery, and you have a magnet.
