I was looking through a decorating book and saw a beautiful china plate wall display I'd like to try, the problem is I can't think of a way to hang the plates on the wall.

As an antique dealer I would strongly recommend you not use the common plate hangers that have the little metal clips that catch the edge of the plate. That is unless you are not concerned if your plates get damaged.

The best way to display plates is to install a small piece of wood so the plate sits on/in it like it would on an artists easel.

You can purchase a product that allows you to hang a plate on the wall. They are small diameter, metal wires or hangers that attach to the plate, and then have a notch that can go over a nail tapped into the wall. They are fairly inexpensive and are available at most hardware stores or home department stores.

If they are worth anything get plate hangers, they have a wire spring inn the back that will accomodate any size plate, I have seen them in the dollar store and hardware stores. You can also use a ring or piece of wire and epoxy glue it to the back of the plate to make a loop for a nail or screw.

There are neat little metal band called plate hangers. They run about $1.00 each and are very secure. Walmart Target or even the dollar stores carry them

go to home depot or similar and buy some plate hangers..

you can get plain looking ones for less than five dollars or you can get fancy wooden "frames" for more like 25-30 bucks...

you can also get wrought iron decorative plate hangers, some with slots for votives at Partylite or at Wicker Emporium, Pottery Barn or similar stores

Good luck!
