As of November 8th 2006, there were 725 war amputees from Iraq and Afghanistan . Between 17 and 20 percent of amputees have returned to active duty.

On 'The View' this morning there was a discussion abou it and they were talking that there were quite a few. Having to do with the medical knowledge and neat things that we have now to be able to save lives but still not be able to save the limbs that these people are losing. So there must be quite a bit.
It was said on 'the view' that they had to open a facility just for amputees (I think it was in Texas, but don't quote me).
