They are very loyal, smart . I had raised one..they get closer to any member of the family that they get along with everyday, everytime, but to those who does not give much time even a member of the family.they don't go much.. if you have big family, you will find out which member they are loyal. the person who spends time with them, the more loyal they are.
I got shi-tzu now, this one goes to everyone, very protective but when he gets attention from anyone he surely goes with the person without hesitation.
Lap dogs are really different in many ways, not because they are small..it takes a lot of good training and spending time together.

My pom was a great dog, I think the advantage was we adopted him when he was about 2 years old..from a very nice lady owner who gave him up because she needs to work full time.
these are just experiences raising such breeds, but whatever breeds you choose, there is always a commitment to consider.

Depends, how loyal is the owner?

Any dog will follow someone it cares about to the ends of the earth if they are treated well.

i have had my pom for almost 13 yrs. she is VERY loyal, great disposition, and is fairly low maintenance. she likes to keep me within close distance of her most of the time. they're a great breed.

Hi Megan,

There are some reviews of Poms by owners of Poms on this site:

Hopefully, they will help you to make up your mind whether or not to have one.
