My almost 3 yrs old son has been thumb sucking since he was 4 months old. I've seen him have blisters on his thumb. I've put vinegar on it hoping it will end...no suck luck! He only sucks his thumb at bedtime and not during the day...yeah!..lol Any suggestions on stopping him from thumb sucking. HELP! HELP! HELP!

first of all, it is his decision, not yours...
let him be... do not torture him anymore...
he will let it go when you stop presuring him and when he feel secure enough... .

It's a losing battle..My son is almost 4 and he sucked his thumb since he was practicacly born lol...I just told him that it would fall off and I would always take it out of his mouth. And now he doesn't even do it at night...I was a long up hill battle but just keep working on it...Don't give up but don't push it too much they'll stop eventually Good luck

I know that thumb sucking is aggravating to you and your son is trying. He doesn't suck his thumb during the day, but at nite its comforting to him and natural for him. Just let him suck his thumb. It may now be only at night and then not at all. Just don't make a big deal about his doing it.

Is he really hurting anyone by sucking his thumb? No he isn't, Let him do it, Sucking his thumb gives him comfort. Like a blanket or stuffed animal. He will evenually outgrow it.
