Okay check this out. It was a simple question for my case manager and she didn't give me a direct answer so I wanted to just here back from all of you out there. I have signed release forms on a $40,000 settlement my lawer gets 33.3% (13,320). I visted a chiropractor no more than 50 times (just cracked my back and neck) and visited a doctor once for a steroid shot in my leg. How much should I expect for them to take? My case manger stated she couldn't say because they are trying to get them reduced as much as possible.

I also wanted to know if the hospital bills would be deducted out of the settlement even though they don't have a lien like the chiropractor. Its not that much, im just curious.

Sorry it was between two different companies. One was 25000, and the other was 15000. As far as the med bills go thats what I was trying to get a guesstimate from any of you on since Ive never had to deal with a case like this. Im just trying to get a rough estimate on what anyone thinks will be left when its all said and done.

Wow. 40k is an unusually large settlement based on what you just told us. Sounds like she's trying to knock the bills down, see how much of that 40k has to go to your bills, and then take their 1/3 from what's left. Ok, so I would say an exact number is hard to say. It depends on a few things you didn't explain here. I can't imagine a doctor reducing bills more than 10%. Wow.40k? What generous insurance company shelled that out!?

50 visits to a chiro? Usually an insurance company won't cover those charges as it seems you over treated. Somebody should've told you that if the chiro wasn't helping you after a month or so, to seek alternative treatment. What type of release did you sign? Full and final means that the meds come out of the 40K. The lawyer get's his cut, and you just end up getting screwed.
