Sorry, but no one has answered this problem 100% correctly. I was going to join the military, and that was the reason that I didn't. The recruiter told me that the reason women aren't allowed to be in combat is due to the fact that we can reproduce. That and the fact that most combat jobs involve lifting almost 80 lbs. above yoiur head and most women can't do this.

In addition to all of the above comments, men and women serving together in a combat situation can get pretty dramatic. There's a lot of sexual tension and it's distracting. It's one thing to serve in co-ed units back at the base, but when you're out for a long time and need to focus on your mission, it can be dangerous to be attracted to the person on your right.
