We got a new puppy (7wks old) on Sun.(Shih-Poo) He plays well with his toys, but, when it comes to playing with him AND his toys, he only wants to chew on US. Doesn't hurt or anything, just playful, don't want him to get into the habit though. Have tried, NO! Clapping hands and NO! NO BITE! He doesn't respond to ANYTHING!

Dogs can't speak English, so shouting NO BITE at him won't make him stop. Here's an article for you, with instructions:

Ok, the best thing I can come up with is try Bitter Apple. It’s a spray on stuff that gives your dog a bad taste. I worked at Petsmart for 2yrs and every time I had someone with this problem our dog trainer would tell them the same thing. No, it doesn’t hurt your dog in any way; all it does is make your dog say, "YUCK, I don’t want to do that any more!" It also helped me with get my puppy to stop barking. It really is great stuff. Just go to your locate Petsmart or to Petsmart.com and try it out.

dogs quit biting whilst you coach them to not chew. Its now not some thing they "develop out of".. When she bites.. yelp "OUCH" use the equal tone a dog could if it obtained bit too tough. If she maintains to chew, yelp "OUCH" once more, then stroll away and forget about the dog for 10-15 minutes. This teaches the dog.. you're being too hard, Im now not having amusing, so sport over. The dog will gain knowledge of to not chew if she wishes to keep gambling. Also inspire using toys for play.. do compliment your dog for all suitable interactions additionally.. gambling with toys, getting puppy or brushed with out biting, and so on.

We had a similar problem with our lab puppy but she was younger than your dog, so I hope this helps.

When she is biting you, pull her lip over her tooth just enough so that she bites herself - not hard but enough to where she realizes pressure. A friend recommended this is us and it solved our issues in less than a week. Dogs are really smart, but you still have to trick them a little sometimes.

Again, make sure she doesn't hurt herself. The point is to realize pressure, not necessary pain.
