I write songs and I would like to perform them. I know how to sing a little but not really well. A lot of people tell me I have a nice voice, but I don't know how to hold notes very long, and I am afraid of going to classes or anything like that.

Don't be afraid of going to classes! What have you got to lose? Sounds to me like you would really enjoy it. Find a singing teacher somewhere in your neighbourhood and if possible arrange to have lessons once a week or so. That will give you more confidence when it comes to your voice. If you are in school they always have opportunities at talents shows and such. Don't be afraid to sign up. You never know unless you try.

Good luck :)

Here is a link to a web site that can provide singing instruction on CD >>> http://www.skyelab.com/Singing_Lessons1.htm This is an effective manner of increasing your proficeincy and adding wider range to your voice. Take care, Ben

Go to classes if you can. All the students are in the same boat and they're very supportive.
