Cast A Long Shadow

Casting a long shadow means that in any particular feild, your accomplishments are great.

Think of each accomplishment as a box. The more boxes you stack on top of each other, the longer the shadow cast by these boxes becomes.

In Martin Luther Kings case, each improvement in civil rights was an accomplishment. When all of these are considered together, he "cast a long shadow".

"Pearls" are symbolic of ideas you have that you think have great value (i.e. pearls of wisdom). Swine" represent those who do not value those ideas at all highly, but trample those ideas in the mud while looking for stuff they do value. This saying, of course, doesn't address the possibility that those ideas you think are highly valuable might all be wrong. But following its advice will allow you to avoid the possibility of finding this out, for a lot longer, by helping you imagine that your own beliefs are pearls and those who don't believe them are swine. -- Regards, John Popelish
