I'm looking to fill 4 weeks in August. With something AMAZING!

I'm not filthy rich but I'd be willing to stretch the budget a little for the right trip. Suggestions to any place, doing anything gratefully received, though I would like to stay somewhere semi-decent and not completely rough it! Whether it be a trek, a surf camp or mountain biking...I'm up for trying anything exciting, but I'd also like to relax a little bit too. God, that sounds like an impossible brief to fill!

I'm a 25 year female and I'll be travelling alone.

Thanks in advance.

Try Italy. I am 24, female, and will be spending the summer there alone. It's safe, affordable, and the Italian men are the best looking in the world. Seriously. : )

You can trek in the Italian Alps around Lake Como (if you've seen Ocean's 12 you'll recognize it), emmerse yourself in Rome's awesome architechture, art, etc. You can take a boat to Capri and live it up with the beautiful people. Eat pizza where it came from-Naples. See Pompeii, then go to a Roman bath and get a massage.

And, there are lots of inexpensive options for places to stay.

But when you do decide on a place, do yourself a favor and buy a really good travel guide. For what you are describing, I would recommend two: Rick Steves (he's an absolute pro), and surprisingly, the MTV travel guides are great.

Also, food for though:

One possibility is to stay for free at people's homes. This means you can splurge on shopping, sightseeing, etc.

The benefit of this is that you really get to make some friends, meet the locals, and so on. And, if you aren't comfortable staying in people's homes--although it's totally legit--you can always contact ppl to meet up for coffee and an insiders tour around Italy.

To do so check out

www.couchsurfing.com

this website connects people all over the world who are traveling--basically you sign up to find hosts, and in return, if some traveler is stranded near you in the future you open your home to them.

It's an amazing website.

Good luck and happy travels!

P.S. if you decide on Italy...I will be there for the first two weeks of August in Naples...you are more than welcome to come down and hang out, I'll be oriented by then and I can take you to the Amalfi coast, etc. Send me an email.

Alaska in August is EXCELLENT! Queensland, Australia. Where are you coming from? Where are you willing to go? The world is a big place with ALOT to do. I hear the Scottish Highlands are quite nice in August.
