I suspect those awards can be bought, so I'm not impressed. A lot of reliability has to do with owner care. My GMC pickup ran 200,000 miles and was still running like new when I turned it over to my son, who used it for a desert toy.
To the guy above (hates libs)
They already tried to kill imports with tariffs, that's why they build them here now

Gm is starting to do the right thing and people will find out down the road that it's just a misconception that foreign cars are better, that was true in the 80's but not now, Toyota is #1 in recalls for 2006 followed closely by Honda at #2 and Toyota is bragging how they are going to overtake GM this year and be #1 in sales and that shows me that they are more concerned with putting out numbers instead of quality and it is going to come back and bite them right in the you know where down the road.

It obviously hasn't. Toyota had a record breaking month in December, up by 17% while GM had a loss.
Best car and truck are "opinions" put out by a committee which may or may not be persuaded one way or another. The "facts" are the results you see each year is foreign cars, especially Toyota and Honda are gaining ground on the domestic market.

No, that competition is a joke. The Saturn isn't close to the Camry or Altima in any measure, and the judges knew that. It's the best Saturn ever - so what?
GM is far better than Ford and Chrysler right now, but their basic problems are all still there -- high labor costs, cheap materials and confusing option packages that run the base price up. they also discount their vehicles and kill the resale values of every model they build.
GM is in less trouble than the other two detroit companies. Big deal.

The only reason Honda, toyota and these other Japanese cars sell good in America is because the president doesn't care about the American auto makers. If he would slap tariffs on these jap cars the big 3 America auto company's would have a chance to compete against those crappy Japanese cars. Just to let everyone know now if the 3 American auto company's go belly-up so will the U.S. economy.

Toyota, Hyundai, and Honda all build most of their cars for our market, here in the U.S. There are plants in Illinois, Alabama, all over. So to me, these cars are almost more American than American cars are. Not to mention they are employing thousands more while Ford and GM continue layoffs. If I got laid off from Ford I would be next in line at Toyota.
