Depending upon where you are located, I would recommend checking with your local volunteer center. As everyone's interests are different, it's important to find a volunteer project that provides self-fulfillment in addition to meeting real community needs. Volunteer centers typically engage the community and local non-profit agencies.

Through my volunteer centers, I've worked alongside youth volunteers to do various projects including arts and crafts, library tutoring, working at the food bank, environment cleanups, and working at our local museums.
If no volunteer centers exist in your area, the local chapter of the United Way can also provide similar services to connect your with community projects.
