The surname is Camaratti, does anyone know what it means, or have you heard of it before?

Never heard before. I've also checked on the phone White Pages but nobody in Italy (having a phone #...!!) is named Cameratti.
There are a few Cameretti instead. Could it be mispelled ??
However both have no meaning in Italian.

Edit #1 - I'm really happy to see that just my answer has got 1 thumbs down (while I'm sure it's the only one correct).

All names have an origin but without knowledge of their original location or the language they come from if can be difficult to say.

The ending -atti in italian means:
proˈceedings
the things said and done at a meeting of a society
But I doubt if this is the correct context

There are a couple of places Italy called Camar I'd say the name originally came from inhabitants of some of these places.
