Both are better than anywhere else in the world

I lived in the UK for 20 plus years, the USA for ten plus years and Canada for the rest. For most people I would say that the UK is a better option. It depends a lot on who you are. If you are lucky enough to be seeking finance for a business or own a business which is deemed strategic such as airlines, media, defense in which case living in the US opens a larger market. The tax basis is not signficantly cheaper particularly in places like New York. It will also depend on which state you are interested in. The salaries are higher in New York and some specific businesses than the UK but at the moment there is probably more opportunity in Europe and the general market size of the EU is greater. If you don't speak any foreign languages it may be that you have some difficulties in some careers in Europe that you wouldn't have in the US. Spanish is useful but not a requirement for most jobs. In terms of natural beauty nothing can beat the national parks in the US but the urban centers of Europe are almost universally more attractive. The US and Europe are large so climate varies but the climate in the North East and Northern USA has many of the same challenges as the UK. More Southern climbs in the US and Europe definitely have a better climate than the UK. Immigration restrictions in the US are significant. It can be over ten years before you are freely able to get hired without significant delays of many months in getting visas for each new employer. You will be restricted in your ability to have somebody other than your spouse join you for the first fifteen years. For the majority of people the US immigration process is a decisive problem. Being illegal means being treated and paid as if you didn't matter. Being legal is continually expensive, time consuming and demeaning. The immigration process is designed for people with significant push factors from their country of origin and the UK doesn't have sufficient push factors for it to make sense. Living in Continental Europe would allow far greater freedom of employment. Visiting the US for a university degree or for a short contract engagement is a great way to experience the country and of learning about the cultural differences but Europe would be a better option for a UK national. For a US national moving to the UK it only really works for the short term as all US citizens are taxed in the US on their global income for life. You can retire abroad and receive $84,000 of UK taxed income tax free of US tax. There is a tax treaty and you should consultant a US and UK accountant about a move in either direction if you have any life savings. The cost is very high. The immigration process is designed for those who are desperate to move and who have few assets. Others need sophisticated tax advice.

Well that all depends on what you stand for. We (USA) have a democracy. Where as UK is under dictatorship by queen-ship. I personally believe that the UK is much better in some ways like Racism, they really don't have a whole lot of that there. Also their sexuality is more open than USA. There is a whole lot more weight problems here than UK. But If you like being free and being able to say/do what you want when you want then Yes USA is better. As said earlier it depends on what you believe in and what your preferences are.

1) Hollywood
2,3) Nice teeth
4,5) Melting pot
6) Education
7) Economy
8,9) Olive Garden
10,11) Big cars!

OK, so that's 11. But close enough! : )

While both are nice, I can say I am proud to be an American! Although, technically, I descended from German, Norweigan and British ancestors. So I have European blood. I have heard that the UK is lovely, though.

Well we think we have more, but I think everyone in charge is still from England. For Example British Petro, Shell, and many more just dig a little below the surface and you will see England is still taking the money. Oh yea a pound is worth two dollars.
