why when someone asks about strange occurences during the night .. a presence in the room ... being attacked ... seeing or hearing things ...
are people so quick to say demons ?
has no one heard of sleep paralysis ?
this is a medical condition that affects almost 40 % of the population at some point in their life
it can be mild or severe
perhaps this is the reason for the belief in demons in the first place .. when people did not understand the medical side of things
please though , before jumping to conclusions and thinking all manner of strange things ...
see if it is something that is natural first ?

and you ask God and it helps which is wonderful ..
my mother wiggles her toes and it helps
whatever works ... its all good

Ben .. i am a spiritualist ... the supernatural is my passion
but i always try to rule out anything first and would not put such fear in people when there is a natural reason for it

I hate sleep paralysis, haha. I get it constantly. But yeah, I know what you mean... In fact it's happened to me all my life, and I always assumed that everyone knew it had a natural explanation. It wasn't until I got on here that I saw people trying to use the supernatural to explain it. You're right, it has nothing to do with demons.

The trouble with demons is that they're sneaky. Deceptive, even. So the suspicious activities very well may have natural causes, which may or may not have been set in motion naturally. And quite often, they are. But not always.
One of the key things about the supernatural is that it cannot be explained through science. So if something has no natural cause (such as suddenly feeling an oppressive presence, especially when there was none before), then there's a good chance that it's supernatural.
Ask yourself this: isn't it possible that the supernatural exists?

Some things may have a physical explanation. I will never exclude the possibility. On the other hand medical science is loathe to accept anything they can't capture and analyze in a test tube. It has been well said that there are more things in heaven than on earth. If you only accept a materialistic view of the world, you will hardly if ever come to a coherent philosophy that can explain all the things that occur in this world. That demons are common to probably all cultures, sophisticated and primitive throughout the world and throughout human history is well documented. Even the celebrated philosopher Socrates claimed to have a personal demon (or daemon if you prefer) that purportedly acted as a spirit guide. The Biblical view of these beings differs from the Greek mythological view however, in that all demons are treated as hurtful, malevolent creatures. Their existence is amply attested to in the New Testament. I for one can attest to having more than one encounter with these creatures that leaves me in no doubt that they are real spiritual personalities. I thank God through Jesus Christ that He has taught me how to deal with them.

I saw this experiment they did on discover ch i think. They hooked people up to this helmet and looked them in a dark room. The helmet didnt cover there eyes only put electricity in there brain. They all said there was something very strange in the room with them and said they couldnt move. It was scary! You are very right!!! People try to explain thinks without trying to figure it out.

I have personally experienced "night terrors" or sleep paralysis. I always refer any such askers to seek medical help FIRST.

We have had a great deal of narcolepsy in our family and have also had demonic encounters and they are not the same at all. Hallucinations that accompany narcolepsy (sleep paralysis is one of the four manifestations of that) are real enough but you are normally asleep or in paralysis .With demons you are not asleep.

I think it is used for anything that can't be explained. I know from experience that physical objects can be moved by someone outside of their body. However, I do believe in negative forces that try to play tricks on humans, and think that there are some very negative forces that may be truely evil.

It could be medical.
But for a person who normally never has sleep paralysis, one event with some seriously weird dreams accompanying it would make you think twice about it yea?
*shrug*
on another note, I always wake up from paralysis by asking God for help.
TADAA then its gone. :)
Could it be purely psychological?
