Hi there...if Spotty hasn't been able to eat lately especially his regular kibble there may be an underlying medical problem that could be diminishing his appetite and there are many medical conditions which can cause a cat to stop eating.

If a cat is not eating they can suffer from a life-threatening condition called feline hepatic lipidosis (fatty liver disease), which the liver stops function and the end result is death. Please consider ringing your veterinarian and discuss this with them to see if a visit is necessary.

By the way, Spotty is known as a Domestic Short Hair (DSH).

If he is losing weight, you should really take to him to the vet, even though he doesn't like the vet. I had a cat that stopped eating and shortly after died and he was only a year old. A week later my other cat started to do the same thing, we found out that they had come into contact with something that was causing their liver to stop functioning, they became jhandis (yellow skinned) and they stopped eating. Luckily we got the second cat in before she too died. But it was spendy to save her, she had an IV and had to stay in the vet clinic for several days. Even after that she wasn't well enough to eat on her own. I had to feed her four times a day with an eye dropper to keep her alive, then one day, she started to eat again. That was 5 years ago and she is still alive and stepping on my keyboard as I type. Hopefully you won't have to deal with that, but I would be sure and take him to the vet if he continues not to eat.

Sounds like you are being taken for a ride by your cat - this is not uncommon for cats to want to swap and change.
Stick with it and don't give him the option he will eventually eat it, he is trying to dominate you!
If he will not eat after 2 - 3 days then take to vet to rule out any medical reason for it, but from what you describe sounds more like dominance.

my cat wouldnt eat anything but moew mix but i was able to switch her to sams club brand i guess the ingredeants are simular now she will eat any type of dry food i give her canned food as a treat like i would give a dog bone to a dog

maybe you can try mixing the old food with the new food or mixing canned food with it or something she will eat and slowly cut out the old food till she is on the new food

Try going back to cat food you were feeding him. Sometimes they don't like change.

Change it back to what he was eating, he's telling you he doesn't like the new kind.
