I’m going for a MRI soon & a person told me I have to wear a full helmet because of the metal fillings in my teeth. I’ve never heard of this before & don’t know how comfortable I’d be wearing a helmet. I’d rather go to the dentist & have the metal fillings taken out. Has anyone heard of this?

I get MRI's all of the time and have metal fillings. No you do not have to wear a helmet.

Well I'm no expert on MRI's, but I had metal braces when I got an MRI of my neck. Nothing happened. I also have metal fillings in my teeth.

Who told you you need to wear a helmet? Someone at the MRI place, or a friend who may be toying with you?

No you do not have to wear a helmet. I have metal fillings and have had an MRI with no helmet.

I don't have any fillings, but it depends on what part of the body you're having the MRI of. When I had mine, they were getting films of my head. Wearing a helmet would have been a bit impractical for me.

I think he's pulling your leg. Probably a joke to entertain himself. Lead is not attracted to magnetic fields. Check with your physician and report the guy who's told you to wear a helmet. MRI can be dangerous; no one should mess with misinformation. Check with your physician.

No, someone is messin' with ya. I've had 2-3 MRI's, and I have mercury fillings in my teeth, and the only things I had on my head were headphones to listen to music!

You're probably not going to need to.
But if you had a surgical pin in your body, the magnet would rip it out within seconds.

I believe this is painful.

Do what the dentist/doctor advises. If they say helmet, you wear the helmet. All you need to remember is to not move and stay perfectly still.

nope..no helmet- even if you did wear a helmet it wouldnt block the field....they might have been referring to the coil that is placed around your head...that goes for everyone

but show up with a helmet on anyway and refuse to take it off...-they'll get a kick out of that
