It is a common side effect after cholecystectomy. (GB removal) I would advise a trip to your GP or family doctor (depending on which country you reside in) who will be able to ensure it is all connected, and possibly put you onto dietary supplements to help firm the stools back up.

To help SAWGIRL out, and her principles of internal medicine....the gallbladder actually stores and concentrates the bile produced by the liver. This allows it to be controlled and released when you eat, as opposed to a slow trickle of bile after it's removed.

I had my gallbladder out 9 years ago and I have had bowel problems ever since. I get a lot of diarrhea still i mean not so much it is a problem but it is different than before the gallbladder removal.

I am an alternative medicinal therapist and an ex nurse and it is not normal for you to have continued loose stools. Get yourself some Lepicol from the health store this will help bring your stools under control. The colon is at fault here. I also had mine out and my bowels have not been the same since. I take lecithin. Let me explain: The bile that is in the gallbladder is concentrated but when you don't have one the bile stays in the liver and becomes thin, so to thicken it we need lecithin. I take lecithin 1200mg and i get these from a company called ZIPVIT. The capsules are large but are easily swallowed
You must bring your bowel under control because you are losing vital fluids, so drink at least 2 litres a day to replace this. if you need any more help I am always at the address below

No your gallbladder's removal should not affect your stools. The gallbladder secretes bile which breaks down fats and sugars. The removal of the gallbladder simply makes digestion slower in breaking down those things. I had my gallbladder out years ago. and although I do have problems with my bowels. It is because of other things. Try a bland diet with lots of fibre for a couple of days, if there is no change then you should see your Doctor.
loose movements are one thing, water is not normal.

yes its normal. I read once that your bodys bowel movements are never quite the same once you get your gallbladder removed. I had mine removed 4 years ago and I have improved since then.
